1. Introduce yourself(tell about yourself & who you are)
My name is Kyle Harris, I’m 24 years old, and I live in Las Vegas. I was born in Montréal, Canada and have lived in 3 different states in the US as well as 3 countries. I speak 2 languages fluently, as well as working on mastering a third. I am also Jewish, Native American and African American. I’ve also done some schooling and hold an associate’s degree in business management.
2. What inspires you everyday
Something that inspires me every day is the new opportunity to make a positive change in the world. We have so many chances to help out others, even if it’s something as small as sharing a smile or a kind word.
3. What are some goals in life you have completed?
A goal that I’ve completed is finishing my associates degree, some other goals include landing a job in the industry I had wanted after being dissatisfied by the retail industry. I also managed to study abroad in Israel for a year learning about my religion which made me feel accomplished. Most of the goals I have set up for myself now include finding a fulfilling and well-paying job so I can start my family.
4. What are some words of wisdom you by everyday?
Some words of wisdom that allow me to focus and reframe my situation are; “this too is for the good”. As I believe in God the meaning behind it is very important to me, basically it breaks down to the idea that everything that happens to a person is for the better and to help make them into a better person. These are of course, the events that seem random in our lives that we have no control over. When I moved to Las Vegas during my last year of high school I thought it would be the worst experience of my life, leaving all my friends behind in Montréal and the life that I had built there. Ultimately moving to Vegas helped me grow in ways that I wouldn’t have thought and partially made me into the person that I am today.
5. What are your thoughts on the world today?
The world today is a very scary place. As a man of faith, I look up to God and ask: “what is going to happen?” I think we could be so much more advanced if we set aside the baseless hatred, we have for one another. If we truly cared about each other in a real way, we would be focused on improving the lives of those around us and not just making money at whatever the cost. When I look toward the future, I’m unsure if it will be bright or dark due to where we are today it feels like we are on the brink of losing everything because a few people want to control and monetize everything and everyone. I believe we could be so much farther if we put aside our petty differences and work together for a future that truly means something, not just the endless chase of money.
6. What are some struggles you went through in life and how did you overcome it?
Some struggles I’ve had are still ongoing and some have passed thankfully, getting my degree was one of the ones that was made all the more difficult because of the environment that was built around me, when I study, I try to take it seriously but there were many people in my classes who felt it was okay to disrupt the class and to just coast until their father could hook them up with a job. Since I didn’t have those opportunities available to me, I had to work harder to get through the year. My best pieces of advice are first, never give up. Keep trying different angles on the approach to your goal, and if it turns out that your goal wasn’t what you thought it was going to be like to take the perseverance that you had on the journey and apply it to the next goal. And secondly, change your environment. Not only in the physical, literal sense but also in a metaphoric sense, being able to realize that an environment is toxic for you is an important step in overcoming a struggle. But also, by being a positive influence in your environment, you will affect change in ways that you can’t imagine.
7. Last question what else would you like to tell people about you?
The last thing I’d like people to know about me is my creative side, I have done acting in a decent number of plays and musicals, I love to draw and listen to music, as well as my desire to make a living off of my art. I take photos as well, and now I’m looking to get into jewelry making and focusing on starting my business and my side projects
