Introduce Yourself/Tell About Yourself: I’m Alexandra, 25, born in the Philippines, living in England, excited to explore and live in many other parts of the world. Curious about everything and smart enough to understand that I know nothing.
What Inspires You Every day? : I’m inspired by growth. Interpersonally, as a society, in nature, and technology. I’m inspired to keep going forward, watching my growth as an individual and humankind altogether.
What is some words of wisdom you live by?: “Strive to see beyond the shallow waters.”
What is your ultimate goal in life? : Live every day moving forward.
How have you been during the pandemic and how has it affected you? : I work in the hospital, so nothing and yet everything changed for me. Being redeployed to ICU, seeing work fluctuate depending on each “wave”, not being able to see my friends and family, and having to deal with my mental health was a lot. I and those closest to me all went through COVID in varying intensities, but fortunately, all got through it fine and without extreme/permanent effects on our health. But seeing many others not be as fortunate is painful to see, and so is watching others completely be ignorant/careless about protecting others.
In the end, I felt I have grown in the past year, and although many terrible things occurred throughout the pandemic, we can only move on and keep moving forward and take all the positive things with us.
What is a message you would like to give others? : Everyone is fighting their own battle, looking for their path. No one is fully good, or evil, no matter how much easier it is to view someone simply as one or the other, instead of acknowledging many other things. I have lots to learn, and so do you, no matter how old or young, no matter what trauma you have been through. So, from one stranger to another who have yet to become friends, let’s all learn to change the world by starting with ourselves.
What else would you like to tell others about you or your life?: I am no one special and the things I have gone through aren’t unique. I was lucky to have been taken care of and supported to have gotten where I am now, and I hope to pass it forward by giving back to the world (or at least to one person at a time) whenever I can. 🙂
