1. Introduce yourself(tell about yourself & who you are)
my name is Jacob Rico, I’m from the North Side of San Antonio and I trade stocks for a living. I started trading stocks my sophomore year in college at UTSA and was able to quit my job by the time I was done. I’m very passionate about finance, fitness and anything that provokes self growth.
2. What inspired you to get into fitness & how has that been going for you?
I’ve always been an active person, as a kid I played sports and loved to just be outside till dark. Naturally I’ve always been in the gym, it’s been a stress reliever for myself and a way to escape from life’s daily woes. Of course, hitting the gym started just to look a certain way but through the years the meaning has changed for me as I’ve grown and accomplished goals. Fitness, for me now, is a place I can get my anger out and daily self inflict adversity onto myself to grow. It’s a mental thing now, the physique part is just a byproduct of the work.
3. What are some goals in life you are wanting to complete or have completed?
Right now my main goal to complete is to continue to build my business “Rico Capital”
A wealth management company, I manage investments for individuals. Looking to bring on bigger institutional money in the future. That would be my long term goal, my shorts terms goals are just continue living a healthy life. Continue to push myself daily and be the best me I can be because nobody wins around me when I’m not that. I take pride in people counting on me, relying on me, or just supporting me. At the end of the day, it’s not about proving my doubters wrong but proving my support system right.
4. What are some words of positivity that motivates you everyday?
“How you do anything is how you do everything”
It is a quote that has gotten me to go that extra mile on things I would usually want to shortcut or half ass. It motivates me when I need it. But at the end of the day to reach your goals you’re gonna have to be ruthless, relentless and have no quit in you. Life will find so many ways to beat you down or make you prove that you are who you say you are. And if you’re not that, you’ll fold every time. Nobody hits harder than life. Whatever you do or doing, be passionate about it or else you’ll get shaken out of it real fast. There were many times I always quit trading for good. Back when I was still figuring things out for myself. Self-doubt will seep into your plans, but as long as you wake up and show up everyday; You’re going to win. You’re always one decision away from a new life. So don’t think “what if this all goes wrong” just think, “what if this all goes right”
It’s gonna take everything you got, but trust me you got everything it takes.
5. What are your thoughts on the world today?
My thoughts on the world today are, it’s crazy. But it’s always been crazy. It’s tough, it’s mean, it’s crazy, it’s hard, it’s easy, it’s everything you think it is and more. Whatever you pay attention to, usually creates the world you live in. Pay attention but don’t be fixated on things if it’s not in your daily life. live what’s in front of you, take care of the people around you and always do whatever you have to do to make it back home to your family.
6. What are some struggles you went through in life and how did you overcome it?
I can write out a long story about struggles and how I’ve overcome them. Everybody has struggles, I can talk all day about growing up in a divorced household. My mother being an alcoholic, my father raising another family growing up. Having childhood friends shot and killed overnight. Getting into trouble, having almost killed plenty of times. Doing things I’m not proud of as a kid because I had no guidance. But really none of that matters because wanting better, wanting to move forward or change isn’t a one time decision, it’s an everyday thing. I live a healthy life now because i grew up around unhealthy things, habits, etc and I know how that feels. I hated it. I’ve always been independent, and had ideals that were better. All I had to do was go out and prove it, and that’s exactly what I did and doing. And I’d like to think I’m doing a great job now. I sleep peacefully at night, knowing anyone that hates me is not beating me in life.
7. What is one way you’d like to make an impact in the world?
One way I’d like to make an impact in the world is to just be positive. Be a role model for kids or anyone feeling stuck. Because I’ve been there, I’ve been through that adversity. I’ve seen it all, trust me but there’s nothing in this life you can’t come back from. All it takes is changing your mind and running with it. Have no quit in you. Not accepting anything less than what you want. If I can spread positivity, that’ll be enough for me to make an impact. You never know what people are going through. Life is hard, really hard, anyone saying otherwise is lying to you or had it handed to them. Be you, do you, find your purpose and live it out. There’s only one you, and the world needs that.
