Introduce yourself?: My name is Millie MacDougall and I am an East London artist, currently studying Fine Art at University.
What inspires you everyday?: My Mother. My father died when me and my sister were very young and she’s always tried her hardest to give us the best and remain strong for us. She’s been through so much in life and has never let it bring her down.
What is something you would change about people in the world?: Everything! I wish people would be nice to one another or at least show respect.
How do you feel about the people in the world?: People are becoming more and more evil. Even the other day I heard about someone going around beheading and mutilating Swans around London!
What is something you’ve struggled with in life?: I have really struggled the past 2 years with University. I had no problem with the work as I can work independently and love writing. However, some of the tutors at my University were very horrible, unhelpful and disorganised. It was like their main goal was to destroy people’s confidence – as if they’ve had a bad day everyday and decided to take it out on the students. They made me hate art for a time and I’m just glad I had the confidence to push past their constant negativity and continue creating.
What is a positive message you would give others?: Treat people the way you would like to be treated, don’t let things bring you down and keep smiling!
if you could make a difference in the world how would you do that?: I’m not sure what I could do to make a huge difference besides always being kind to people in hope that it improves their day just that tiny bit. However, recently me and my friend and fellow artist, Dilan Tartar, put on an exhibition ‘END POINT.’ in which we produced art focusing on themes relating to destruction of both oneself and the world. These themes included that of war, self harm, mental illness and more. Through doing this we hoped it would cause people to think about these themes that are very prominent in this day and age. Hopefully my art and the messages it conveys will get people to think more about their role in the world and make a difference.
