Jeanelle Ceniza: there is no shame in talking to someone about how you’re feeling.

Name
Jeanelle Ceniza
Tell us a little about you(your background and how was it like)?
Well at the moment I am 16 and I have been pretty fortunate to have grown up and lived in the U.S. and have the opportunity of education.
What do you value most from your country?
I feel like what I value the most from the U.S. is that we have been given the freedom of speech as well as the opportunity of education.
Who influences you to go after your goals?
To me what truly inspires me to go after my goals is my parents. My parents came from the Philippines and didn’t have much money. But they still managed to work hard at their studies and come to America and become nurses.
What advice can you give a teen about going through hardships?
As a teen we go through many hardships, but always keep in mind these two things. One is that there is no shame in talking to someone about how you’re feeling. And two all though current hardships always feel hard, in two-three years time there’s a good chance that you won’t even remember them.
If you and only three wish to change your family or the world’s life what would they be?
If I had three wishes for the world, the first one would be that the world would be completely peaceful. And as for the second wish, I would want the world to focus on all issues concerning the earth and preserving it. And lastly my third wish would be that the people of the world will focus more on mental health and social issues within every individual person.
Was there a time u helped others out?
In the past I have volunteered at a retirement home. I pretty much just sat with the men and women that lived there and talked to them. And honestly I really enjoyed sitting there because I felt like all of us mutually enjoyed our time together. Sitting with them and conversations with them made me realize how different their times were and how we are really lucky as young people living in today’s world.
Are you happy in the position you are now in life?
As of now I am pretty happy with my position in life. Of course there are still many things that I feel like I can still improve on. But for the most part I am in a position where I am ready for self growth and becoming who I am meant to be.
