Introduce Yourself/Tell About Yourself: I’m Maddie, owner of Apex Astra, and like many others this past year I started my small business with all the extra free time that came with the COVID-19 pandemic.

I have always been a creator; and more than anything it’s been my artistic dream to make beautiful things for people, and now I am so grateful to be able to do that through my small business.

What Inspires You Every day? : Other artists. Every day I see so much talent of different creative styles, and I see how hardworking and determined the people behind the art are. I’ve had the privilege of watching other artists, creators, and small businesses grow, and seeing that growth is what inspires me more than anything.

What is some words of wisdom you live by?: Everything happens for a reason. We are who we are today because people have stayed in or left our lives, because of the good and the bad, and we are exactly who we are supposed to be. Never be afraid to be your truest, happiest self.

What is your ultimate goal in life? : Just to be happy and make others happy through the way of my art.

How have you been during the pandemic and how has it affected you? : Like many others, it has increased my anxiety immensely, but thankfully creating keeps me busy and distracted. I’ve always been an introvert so it hasn’t been difficult staying home and staying safe, the only plus side being it gave me the time and motivation to finally start my business.

What is a message you would like to give others? : Don’t give up on your art. Don’t stop creating. Art is subjective, if you aren’t liking how one thing looks doesn’t mean someone else won’t. Everything you make is beautiful, keep doing it.

What else would you like to tell others about you or your life?: My small business consists of jewelry, macrame plant hangers & other goodies, keychains, smoking accessories, wall decor & more.
