Lenny Liebmann: I have people to take care of — and I have the opportunity to be a conscious living being experiencing existence. That alone is fairly miraculous and badass to me. I mean, who else gets to be me but me.

Name: Lenny Liebmann

Social Media Handle/Username: lenny_liebmann (Twitter)

Introduce Yourself/Tell About Yourself: I’m a 63-year-old Jew from New York who wrote his first line of code back in 1973 and has been involved in technology ever since. I’ve also been a drug dealer, a pastor, a musician, and a reporter. I have two great sons in their 30’s of whom I’m very proud — and am in love like a schoolboy with my very remarkable fiancée.

I have been political radical since childhood. I sold the Black Panther Party newspaper in middle school and had a poster of Huey Newton on my wall — along with Einstein, Ernie Banks, Peter Fonda, and King Kong. I believe in smashing capitalism, defunding the police, abolishing prison, ending discrimination, and saving the sacred Earth.

This may be the most I’ve ever said about myself ever lol.

What Inspires You Every day? : Every day we get up and do what we gotta do. I’m not sure if there is much more to life than this. I have people to take care of — and I have the opportunity to be a conscious living being experiencing existence. That alone is fairly miraculous and badass to me. I mean, who else gets to be me but me.

Also, I find myself endlessly amusing. So if you notice me laughing for no particular reason, don’t worry. I musta just thought of something I find funny af.

What is some words of wisdom you live by?: It’s good to be alive.
Protect your soul at all costs.
Don’t let the bastards get you down.
Hydrate.
Sleep.
Travel light.
Feed the poor.

What is your ultimate goal in life? : I don’t have an ultimate goal. I only have the present intent to be fully here now.

That said, it wouldn’t be bad to be the Last Boomer Standing. I think the world will be a better place once my generation gets the hell out of the way.

How have you been during the pandemic and how has it affected you? : Personally, I have been fortunate during the pandemic bc I can work from home and no one really close to me has gotten sick.

On the other hand, the pandemic has further radicalized me, because it has highlighted the fact that our government doesn’t care about us at all. Our lives are totally expendable. And if we wind up in debt, homeless, jobless, or whatever — oh well. It’s absolutely hideous that 5,000 USians can die in a single day and it’s not even news. We are a profoundly sick society.

What is a message you would like to give others? : Being alive and conscious is itself miraculous and worthwhile. You are not here to achieve or get or do anything. I mean, it’s great if that happens — but the wonder is simply to be a conscious entity in our fantastical shared cosmos.

What I love about this project is its adoration of life itself. The celebrity/careerist culture in which we are immersed is just awful. It glorifies the unreal and drives people to devalue what is most glorious. It’s hard to resist the influence of that culture — but please try. I believe that you are a manifestation of the divine. Embrace that and fuck the haters.

Also feed the poor, please.

What else would you like to tell others about you or your life?: I self-published a book entitled “The Software Revelation” under the pseudonym Xavier Kahn. I would like everyone to read it. It sums up my beliefs about who we are and the cosmos we live in. And it’s really good — writtenin a very readable style even though it grapples with the “big issues.”
