Lui: I believe that whatever you want to achieve in life and wherever you want to get to, you have to put in the hours and hard work yourself, you can’t rely on other people to do anything for you.

Introduce Yourself/Tell About Yourself: I’m Lui, I’m 6’4ft and i’m 20 years old. I grew up in Hertfordshire (more specifically St Albans) and i work in a DIY store. I love football and my friends. I live with my girlfriend and her parents because i have had a bad relationship with my mum from a very young age. I had seen and experienced a lot of things living there and i’m glad i managed to get out.

I have an older sister, younger sister and a younger brother. They have all had it a lot easier than i have in life but my older sister also left my mums house from a young age.

What Inspires You Every day? : I don’t have a person that i can look at and say they inspire me in my life. I want to be better than than who i was yesterday. I’m trying to progress in my job and i e been told by managers that i have what it takes to become a manager so i want to make a better life for myself and make sure it happens.

What is some words of wisdom you live by?: Nobody is going to get you to where you want to be in life.

I believe that whatever you want to achieve in life and wherever you want to get to, you have to put in the hours and hard work yourself, you can’t rely on other people to do anything for you. We live in a world where it’s everyone for themselves and you can’t expect someone to choose you over them.

What is your ultimate goal in life? : I want become a manager in my current workplace, build up some experience and learn some important skills and lessons. Then in the future i want to either start my own company, or become a football manager. I’ve wanted to be a football manager my whole life.

away from work, I want to live in a beautiful house with healthy children. I want to give my kids the best lives and give them everything i never had.

How have you been during the pandemic and how has it affected you? : I’ve been pretty good through the pandemic, being a gamer i can just play games with friends for hours and forget all about it. But it is tough not going out to see friends, drinking and having fun on nights out. Especially as these are the best years of our lives and we’re having to spend it sat at home.

What is a message you would like to give others? : Treat others how you’d like to be treated. It’s pretty simple but if everybody stood by that, the world would be in a much better place than we’re in.

What else would you like to tell others about you or your life?: I haven’t told many people about my younger life because i know there’s always someone else who’s got it worse than me, so i don’t like to feel as though i’m complaining about it.

I saw my mum overdose in our kitchen one time when i was about 13, i had to call my dad as he wasn’t with my mum but he came over and practically saved her life. I also used to get kicked out of the house at the age of 9 or 10. This would usually be because i had a good relationship with my dad, which my mum didn’t like so she’d kick me out late at night and tell me to “live with your dad “. I’d been punched i think one or twice for pretty much nothing. But i was always confused why i was treated how i was, because my brother never got treated this way despite the fact he wasn’t well behaved at all, and i was the well behaved one who never caused problems. I still don’t know to this day why she hated me so much but i don’t care anymore because it’s over and no longer a part of my life.
