Vida: I like to plan things out, but I still accept that not everything is in my control, and that’s okay.

1. Introduce yourself(tell about yourself & who you are)

My name is Vida, I work in IT, I love traveling, playing video games, naps, and good food. I’m Mexican, 24, a soon-to-be college graduate, and I was born and raised in Los Angeles. I live in Tennessee now after realizing I could not afford to live in LA after a few years of struggling with housing.

2. What inspires you day by day ?

I think other people inspire me 🙂 I love seeing other people do great things, I love seeing people win.

3. What are some words of wisdom you live by everyday?

I always remind myself to take life step by step and not to take things too seriously. I like to plan things out, but I still accept that not everything is in my control, and that’s okay.

4. What are some struggles in life you’ve faced and how did you overcome it?

Aw mannn. I think I’ve gone through a lot, but dealing with the passing of my dad and homelessness are probably two of the big ones that affected me in the long run. I think leaving LA gave me a lot of opportunities to grow in so many ways but it sucks being away from family. I’m hoping to find my way home soon, but I’m also learning to adapt.

5. What are some goals in life you’d like to complete?

My current goal is to graduate from school. I’m studying computer information systems, and I’ve been in college since 2016 after I enlisted. I can’t wait to get this degree! After that, I want to look at moving somewhere closer to home.

6. What is one way you’d like to make an impact in the world?

I want to be able to help people. I’ve dealt with homelessness, hunger, mental illness and I feel like nobody should have to go through that. I had a lot of people rooting for me and giving me support and even then, it was really difficult, so I can only imagine how the people with little to no support in those situations feel.

7. What else would you like to tell the world about you?

I want the world to know that I am trying my best 🙂 I also hope my friends know that even if we practically bully each other with jokes, I’m always here for them and I value the hell out of them.
