Beth Maloney: I would like to impact the people I surround by teaching them how to lead with thoughtfulness & positivity.

1. Introduce yourself(tell about yourself & who you are)

My name is Beth Maloney I’m 19, i’m in my first year of university studying psychology; in hopes of being able to apply it to something that makes me & others happy!

2. What inspires you everyday?

my mom, probably. her empathy & kindness & patience for other inspires me to do better in this world. i think that knowing about how cruel the world can be & how unfair & unequal it is, she really shows me how important it is to continue everyday leading myself with light & positivity.

3. What are some words of wisdom you live by everyday?

we rip out so much of ourselves to be cured of things faster. we have less to offer each time we start with someone new. but to make ourselves feel nothing, so as not to feel anything, what a waste how u live your life is your business, just remember our hearts and our bodies are given to us only once and before u know it, your heart’s worn out. and as for your body, there come a point when no one looks at it, much fewer wants to come near it. right now there’s sorrow, pain, don’t kill it, and with it the joy u felt. i apply this to many aspects of my life, especially when i’m ending certain chapters (because as i get older i find it’s happening a lot) learning how to enjoy starting new things has been a great help in my life.

4. What are some goals in life you’d like to complete?

my main goal in life is to in some way help someone or many people. i think lots of people struggle with a sense of purpose & knowing i can help people is my purpose in life. by the end of my life, i would like to look back & know that i played even the tiniest part in someone’s journey.

5. What are some struggles you faced in life and how did you overcome it?

I’ve  struggled with mental health for as long as i can remember, actually. i started having anxiety attacks at age 9 & they got worse & worse as i left them untreated for many years. my mental health came to an all-time low in high school, & i struggled to get through most days. with constant panic attacks & depression hanging over me. when i was 17 i decided to leave high school & start a different form of education & really focus on staying in therapy to help manage what i had let destroy my life. i worked on my physical & mental health, made new friends & got better grades. even though i still struggle (and still in therapy) i am happier than i have ever been.

6. What is one way you’d like to make an impact in the world?

I would like to spread more kindness. I would like to impact the people I surround by teaching them how to lead with thoughtfulness & positivity. i would like for others to then go on & teach other people that i won’t come across in my life those things. i think that if we all did this, we could really change the world.

7. What else would you like to tell others about you?

it’s unusual for me to share any of myself to others when usually i am quite private about my life but i am willing to take new steps & try new things in hopes of someone enjoying my small story!
