Introduce yourself, tell abit about yourself and who you are etc?
My name is Oli Sharman. I’ve had a complicated life and my story is definitely one to be told another time, but my journey with music started at a very young age with my dad being a DJ and me growing up with a great musical interest due to this. My first song released is my first song made (“Autumn”) and I still go by the same alias I did those years ago, “sharmm”.
What was your inspiration to get into music?
I’ve always loved peep. His music inspired me and still does for sure, you can definitely see this in my first song. I’ve always had an interest in so many genres of music and I would write songs to help clear my mind when I needed an escape, but it still feels surreal to actually be creating music that I’m happy with since it always seemed unachievable to me
What is some goals you’ve planned so far with your music career?
My goals change constantly. Right now I just want to stay motivated and carry on doing what I love, which is creating music that I’m happy with and hopefully help others. But my main goal will always be to show people that literally anything is possible. Life will drag you down and you’ll feel like you’re not enough but when you stay true to yourself and work to make yourself proud over anything, that’s when beautiful things happen.
What is something you’ve struggled with getting to where you are now?
Self-doubt is a huge roadblock in the early days of a music career. I still struggle with the feeling that I’m not doing the best I can but it used to be much worse and it made me want to quit multiple times. It made my performance into a microphone sound forced, as my microphone anxiety would choke my words up. I’d like to think I’ve overcome a lot of these issues but it’s still very early and I have a lot of confidence to build but I’ve improved a lot in the sense that I can record with no microphone anxiety anymore.
What is some upcoming projects you got in the making?
A lot. I’ve got so many songs in the vault and many to come. I’m trying to experiment and see what works and what doesn’t. There’s some really cool stuff yet to be released.
What is some words of wisdom you live by?
I’ve always been told not to give up on anything, as corny as it is you should never give up on something if you have passion for it, pushing through could open up so many opportunities so it’s worth the effort in the long run. Nothing worth having ever comes easily.
Last question, what other things would you like to tell people about you?
I believe in everyone. People should never doubt themselves. Everyone’s talented in many ways, and you should be the last person to hold back those talents. I love everyone who’s supported me and I hope to continue making music you all like.
