Introduce Yourself/Tell About Yourself: hi! my name is sarah and i am seventeen, turning eighteen in december. i am a senior in highschool and love being spontaneous. my most favorite things to do are taking drives around town with friends, with the music loud and windows down, and spending time outdoors. i live in the beautiful state of idaho, and i love the gorgeous mountains spread throughout the area. a very interesting fact about me is that i don’t play a school sport, but i am a competitive rock climber. i travel throughout states to compete, and have been doing this since i was nine!
What Inspires You Every day? : friendship, the individuals around me. both past and current friendships have an impact on me in many ways. i have had several past friendships with individuals who have pushed me to become what i want, to reach for my goals, and to turn my ideas and mindset/s into the most positive version/s possible. my current friends motivate me to do so, they encourage me to keep going.
What is some words of wisdom you live by?: “life is not about waiting for the storm to pass but learning to dance in the rain.”
as i mentioned previously, the friendships i have had throughout the seventeen years of my life have impacted me in many ways. one of the few impacts have been showing me that time goes on, things change, and life comes with ups and downs. waiting for the storm to pass can sometimes take just several days, while other “storms” may take months to years. but with learning to dance in the rain, one can become aware of the better times, the positive times in life. dancing in the rain makes one appreciative of the bad times, because without them, one wouldn’t be able to live through and enjoy the good times.
What is your ultimate goal in life? : to become what i view as successful. i would love to start my own business and to have a sweet family. my dream job is to become a doctor just as my dad, but as i grow older, i feel more of a push to go in my own direction. i don’t have any pressure in a career choice which i am thankful for. though i would love to become a doctor and to provide aid to others, and help them through tough times, starting my own business feels like the right path. and who knows, i could always do both, the choices are unlimited!
How have you been during the pandemic and how has it affected you? : honestly, not too well. the pandemic hasn’t had much of an impact on me, but because of my age and what i am going through at this time, the last three years have been the most difficult, stressful times of my life. many fell into a depressive state during the pandemic, which i totally understand. but with the isolation we have become used to during the pandemic, i would say it has only affected me in that specific way. i have found that once i become upset or stressed, i tend to isolate myself without realizing, the pandemic made it much easier with not being able to see anyone anyways. i don’t do it on purpose, but after it’s over, i look back and realize how closed off i became, how heavily i would shut down and lose connection with the people i love most.
What is a message you would like to give others? : always always always check in on others. whether you are close friends with them or not, it is so important to do so. i myself have tried so hard to get into the habit of this. knowing what i went through when no one had even a single idea, makes me think about how others may be doing, both physically and mentally. many may not have an outlet whatsoever, and even if they don’t feel comfortable, an individual will always appreciate the gesture of another checking in on them.
What else would you like to tell others about you or your life?: nothing much really! as of now, i am focusing strictly on improving myself and my life around me. i am working diligently to pull myself together and reach my goals i am wishing for. 🙂
