Introduce Yourself/Tell About Yourself: Hi, my name is Joseph Payne. I’m a 19 year old from metro Detroit . I’ve lived here my whole life. I grew up in a very Christian home. I’ve struggled with my faith in god for my whole life. I love to make music. I love artists like Tyler the creator, Quadeca, and Denzel curry. I’ve recently been very interested in the genre generally called “hyperpop”. Be the unique sounds if you look into it. It’s highly affected the way I’ve made my own music, which I’ve been making for half a decade now. I haven’t had much success, and it haunts me every day. But I keep pushing.

What Inspires You Every day? : I grew up going to a very Christian private school. Only about 50 students K-8. Long story short I was not very popular. Most kids bullied me for being fat or just different. At home wasn’t much better. My oldest brother would torment me and aside from one of my sisters, nobody ever stopped him. I never really had many friends or hope growing up. Thankfully I now have a crazy support system of friends, and my beautiful girlfriend. This inspires me every day. Because if I can move past that awful stage of my life, I can push past anything.

What is some words of wisdom you live by?: Life is about people. If you ever wonder if you should allow yourself to be around someone any longer, question not how you feel when you are with them, but how you feel when they are not around. When they are away, do you miss them? Do you wish they hadn’t left? Or are you relieved to not see them? Use this to mold your future.

What is your ultimate goal in life? : Truthfully I don’t know my goal. The universe is a constant push and pull. I pray that I will be pushed in the right direction.

How have you been during the pandemic and how has it affected you? : Honestly tired of talking about Covid. It made me a better person though. The quarantine forced me to develop as a person. I became much more comfortable within myself and with my inner monologue.

What is a message you would like to give others? : Learn more about yourself. Dig deep and find out why you do what you do. What are your motives? I tend to ask myself what “game” I’m playing in life. How far am I? What’s my next goal? These questions help me get on track. Try watching some YouTube content around psychology or mental health. You never know how much easier life can be if you know yourself enough.

What else would you like to tell others about you or your life?: If you feel so inclined, please take a listen to my music. It definitely is not for everyone, but I put a lot of heart into it. My handle on all platforms is “nvmbr02”. I hope someone sees this. Love yourself today.
