Introduce Yourself/Tell About Yourself: I’m Knuckles, weird name, I know, I chose it for myself. After a Sonic character. I’m an 18 year old college student and artist. I love music, video games, tabletop rpgs, and comic books. I’m beginning to share my art and I hope to be able to make a living out of it someday because it’s something that I enjoy and am extremely passionate about. Art and music are a big part of my life and I can’t imagine having to go without it.
What Inspires You Every day? : My friends inspire me every day, but also the fulfillment that I get from doing the things I love.
What is some words of wisdom you live by?: Some lyrics from a song that I like to live by are: “Let’s take this one second at a time,/Let’s take this one song, this one rhyme,/Together, let’s breathe,/Together, to the beat.” These are lyrics from the song Guns For Hands by Twenty One Pilots. I discovered this band back around 2013, and they eventually helped me a lot throughout some extremely tough times. Although I feel like I’ve outgrown the band, these older songs still mean a lot to me because of their impact on my life. These specific lyrics are extremely important because sometimes you just want to tackle every problem you face at the same time, but it’s so much better on your mind to do things one at a time. For the time being, just focus on breathing and calming down. These songs really helped me feel like I wasn’t completely alone in the world and I was glad that someone else was going through these same problems be it depression, anxiety, or suicidal thoughts. Sometimes I still go back to the lyrics of these songs and just listen and appreciate how far I’ve come in the past few years and I’m really glad that I decided to stay here.
What is your ultimate goal in life? : One day, I hope to be able to make a living off my art. I hope to tattoo but I also want to create my own comic or comics. I enjoy coming up with stories in my head and I’d love to share those with people. I also want to create an outlet for people going through difficult things like mental health issues. I want to grow my platform and be able to help people, even if that’s by making them smile or giving them something to appreciate.
How have you been during the pandemic and how has it affected you? : Right before the pandemic, I felt like I had hit a point in my life where I was finally happy and I loved where I was at mentally. I felt like I had finally recovered from all my depression and anxiety. The pandemic made me take a complete 180° and my mental health tanked. I could barely complete schoolwork and I was riddled with anxiety. I did a lot of self discovering, though. It took a while, but now I feel like I’m nearing that point I was at before the pandemic again. I have a lot of motivation and inspiration, and even though I do have bad days, I’m pretty much able to move on and keep going.
What is a message you would like to give others? : I know a lot of people always want to make sense of everything but I personally believe that not everything is meant to make sense. It’s okay to not know everything and it’s okay to learn and grow. There’s also fun in not knowing. Life would be extremely boring if we held all the knowledge of ourselves and the universe. It’s also completely okay to be scared of the unknown. That’s a part of what makes us human.
What else would you like to tell others about you or your life?: I mentioned that I am an artist, I have a Ko-fi link where I’ve started posting my art and will soon be taking commissions. I’d appreciate it if you checked it out. https://ko-fi.com/txicabs My Instagram and Twitter are also linked to my Ko-fi page as well.
