Introduce Yourself/Tell About Yourself: I live in Houston, Texas and work in HR at a hospital teaching and developing leadership, mentoring, and productivity classes. I’m also adopted and found my birthfamily in 2001, and I have a great relationship with them. I grew up in a small Oklahoma town and was the first in my family to get a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree. I’m also a big nerd who loves reading, travel, history, sci-fi, action flicks, and 80s music.

What Inspires You Every day? : My nieces and nephews inspire me each and every day. I have 20 of them from my siblings and friends. They’re ages 29 to newborn, and they’re absolutely brilliant. I never knew what unconditional love was like until I became an aunt, and I absolutely love being an aunt. I would fight dragons for them, and I want to leave them a better world. I also want them to become the best humans they can be.

What is some words of wisdom you live by?: I learned most things the hard way. A few things I keep in mind: Keep learning, travel when you can, spend money on experiences vs. things, help to make your corner of the world better, and surround yourself with great people.

One of my favorite quotes is from writer George Eliot – “It’s never too late to be what you might have been.” I love stories about late bloomers since I consider myself a bit of one.

What is your ultimate goal in life? : My ultimate goal is to become a published author, and I am currently working on a book. I have so many ideas spilling out of my head.

How have you been during the pandemic and how has it affected you? : I’m immunocompromised due to lupus, and I’m an high end extrovert. Shifting to working remotely and having to be careful of going out has been hard. Fortunately, my brother, sister-in-law, and friends circled around and checked on me. I started working with a health coach at work, and he helped me come up with an exercise plan I could do at home. That’s been helpful for my mental health and managing the fatigue from my lupus. Now that my circle is vaccinated, we can visit each other, I’ve missed hugs, but I do love wearing yoga pants everyday for work.

What is a message you would like to give others? : Use your superpowers for good, not evil. We can make amazing things happen in this world if we want – whether it’s individually or together.

What else would you like to tell others about you or your life?: I’m not sure what to add.
