Name: James Owens

Social Media Handle/Username: Instagram & Twitter: thejamesowens

Introduce Yourself/Tell About Yourself: My name is James Owens and I am twenty three years old from the UK. I am an actor & singer, a writer, blogger and online advocate for the LGBTQ+ community and mental health. I am also a politic activist.

What Inspires You Every day? : The most important thing that inspires me every day is people. I see people every day online such as on social media who are in the LGBTQ+ community, mental health advocates, or simply influencers or normal people. I see the good things they do with their life and the bad side of their life they share online. It gives me some sort of drive to get up every day, work and do what I love and I’m passionate about, share the good and bad moments in my life with people to try make a difference, inspire others to find their paths in their own lives and to use my voice to try do good & make a difference in any way.

What is some words of wisdom you live by?: One quote I live by is “ Always Do What You Are Afraid To Do” – Ralph Waldo Emerson. In all our lives we go through good moments but also dark times whether it’s personal things, life itself, our health, careers, many things. If we never push ourselves and deal and face with the toughest moments in life we wouldn’t appreciate the simplest things and we would appreciate what we have and how lucky we are compared to others around the world. I think it’s so important that you push yourself beyond your comfort levels because if you never try you’ll never know.

What is your ultimate goal in life? : My goals is to work in a career I love to the point where work doesn’t feel like work, to have good health – physically and mentally, to find love and simply to be happy and to wake up every day feeling good.

How have you been during the pandemic and how has it affected you? : They had been times where it’s been very dark and tough, but within time though moments became easier to deal with. I think also knowing everyone is in this together and you aren’t alone helps and makes you aware that you aren’t alone in this scary period of life.

What is a message you would like to give others? : To always keep going, never stop trying and working on whatever it is that may be pulling you back in life, to never give up and know that anything is possible and if you want something you can do it. And lastly to always remember storms don’t last forever and things never last forever, things do and always will get better.

What else would you like to tell others about you or your life?: I’d like people to know that things haven’t been easy in my life, but I know dark times aren’t permanent, and though things may take a long time to heal or overcome, one day it will happen and everything that’s been a struggle will have been worth it.
