Introduce Yourself/Tell About Yourself: Well, I’m a seventeen year old who lives in the Philippines. I don’t have a very interesting life or story or anything that would make you to really check me out but I can create tales. I am a fanfiction writer though I’m struggling with writing. Living in a third world country and having a not so privileged life is hard because you don’t have any clear chances of achieving your dreams. That’s why I am a perfectionist with everything I am doing. It’s hard to fail when the only option you have to escape poverty is to succeed.
What Inspires You Every day? : There are a lot of things that inspire me but I think music plays a very big part on what makes me push through every day. I am not a musician but I could really connect with music especially those who have great lyrics. Whenever I feel so down or upset, I just open my Spotify or laptop and blast Taylor Swift or whatever album I feel that could lift me up, then I’m good. It’s just music has this kind of magic that could mend every broken pieces of yourself and whenever you bathe into it, you will be healed.
What is some words of wisdom you live by?: “What is the point of being alive if you don’t at least try to do something remarkable?” —John Green
What is your ultimate goal in life? : As an ambitious person, I have loads of goals that I want to achieve that if you’ll ask me for #1, my mind starts to haywire. But yeah, I think my ultimate goal in life is to make our situation better. As an Asian, we are really inclined to our family and it is already planted in our head that we should help them and make their lives better. That’s my ultimate goal: to provide them their needs and be able to give their wants. I don’t want to die while I’m stuck in this status or doing nothing remarkable. I want to have an impact for a change, and I want that significant change for my life and my family.
How have you been during the pandemic and how has it affected you? : This pandemic is a total disaster. Honestly, it made every subtopics of health in me to degrade especially the psychological one. Seeing lots of people dying, losing their jobs, government’s incompetence, health workers and health care collapsing, and et cetera are things that could make a simple teenager who gives an f to her country nightmares and breakdowns. Although this situation also made my decision to take Microbiology in college and gave me a better perspective in life, it just f-ed me up so bad. It is depressing to see others suffering, dying while some people are not checking their privileges and being insensitive.
What is a message you would like to give others? : I would like to tell everyone that you should give a shit to others especially to your environment and those who really need help. Man is not an island and there are people out there who are struggling and would be very grateful for your hand. Also, you don’t have to be rude or insensitive because you have no idea what that person is going through, and you have no right to to shame, hurt, and ruin their moment. The world is already harsh, more reasons for us to be kinder to everyone.
What else would you like to tell others about you or your life?: Well, guys, I’m not fascinating, but I want to tell you that I am a fighter and also a helping hand. I was raised by my parents properly and with that lesson that I should help others when they’re in need. I aspire to create a big impact in this world in my own ways, and I always wanted to be reminded of how remarkable I am.
