Introduce Yourself/Tell About Yourself: My name is Alexa and I am a 26 year old self-taught makeup artist and content creator from NYC. My work ranges from soft glam to very detailed, creative type makeup. I have always had a passion for makeup and art. I love to share my work with my followers, friends, and family. As well as being a makeup artist, I also live a double life as an architect. A lot of my skills come from my background in architecture and it becomes very apparent in a lot of my art.

What Inspires You Every day? : I typically get inspired by nature and the world around us. I also look up to famous painters and artists and try to replicate their work on my eyes. My followers also inspire me and motivate me every day to do better and keep creating.

What is some words of wisdom you live by?: “If at first you may not succeed, try again”. Sometimes we can get frustrated when we have an image of what we want to do in our heads, but then it doesn’t come out amazing on the first try. This happens to me very often, but I don’t always let people see my frustrated side, I like to stay positive and start over again the next day. You cannot succeed unless you keep trying.

What is your ultimate goal in life? : My goals as a makeup artist are to reach a larger audience and share my work with a bigger platform, to get more brand recognition and hopefully work with brands on paid campaigns, and to hopefully create my own makeup business and company one day.

How have you been during the pandemic and how has it affected you? : Although the pandemic has had many negative effects on my life, one good thing that has come from it is being able to have the time to work on my craft and perfect my skills. Being stuck at home has really pushed my boundaries and let me break out of my creative shell a bit more. If it weren’t for having all this time indoors, I might not ever have had the time to consider pursuing my dreams of being a makeup artist.

What is a message you would like to give others? : Never ever give up on your dreams. If there is something you want to pursue in life, do not assume you are going to be a prodigy right away (although that is a miracle if you are). Pursuing your dreams takes dedication, time, energy, money, and lots of effort. The more effort and practice you put into your craft, the better you will be. Manifest your goals and soon enough you will become what you have dreamed you will be.

What else would you like to tell others about you or your life?: I believe in taking risks! If you have a vision, pursue it! If it fails, that means you are one step closer to success. At least you can say you tried.
