Introduce Yourself/Tell About Yourself: I am Lesego Caroline Moroe a young teenage girl born with Albinism , born on 27 January 2003 from South Africa
Born and raised in a township called Hammanskraal in Pretoria. Am that type of teenager girl with less expectations in life.We are 6 siblings 2girls 4boys 1st born is our one and only big sister Nthabiseng than Thabo, Mpho also born with Albinism , Boitumelo am the 5th born than our little brother Gontse.
While growing up my brother (Mpho) and I never really experienced many challenges from the society like how other Albinism teenagers have experienced. Grew up in a loving, caring and supporting community even though there was a lack of Albinism education. As time went by they’ve learnt that we also African we no different from them only the colour differs, they’ve accepted us for who we are. As siblings we never experienced the feeling of playing between streets and having friends we were always indoors due to how our parents taught us about streets and friends. Anyone that wanted to play with us they would come into our yard. 2008 at the age of 5years started at Namo primary school nearby our house. Attended for 2yrs due to Mpho had experienced an eye problem them managed to cope well in a public school during his studies, when he explained to his teachers they never took him serious he would always stand up from the back to go write what was written on the board. It happened for 2yrs till the school principal took a step forward to help him for a better school for visually impaired learners.at the end when the school was found the principal also suggested I should also go because of my own safety they didnt want to experience the same thing.
2010 started attending at Prinshof school for visually impaired. Started off well but scared of the new atmosphere, I was that shy little one but I coped the school showered us a way to life and it has built us to be who we wanna be one day. And here I am its 2021 my last year of high school life am in grade 12 walking my last secondary steps with pride and joy.
