Name: Candace Walker (Candace Convo)
Social Media Handle/Username: @candaceconvo
Introduce Yourself/Tell About Yourself: I’m a fun loving, straight shooting, political junkie and Jesus freak and writer, who has three children (1 in Heaven) and a loving husband. I work 9-5 in tech and I am the CEO of a non-profit, The Clinton Ron Walker Foundation, an organization created in memory of my son who died from an undiagnosed heart defect at 17. I also write a blog and host an Instagram live show called Conversations with Candace.
What Inspires You Every day? : I am inspired to educate people through my blog, show, as well as my speaking engagements and my writings. If someone watches my show or reads what I write and learns something from it then I feel like I have completed my purpose.
What is some words of wisdom you live by?: Strive for perfect but don’t be upset when you don’t reach it because the only perfect person to walk the planet was Jesus and you are not him. Life is short so live it to the fullest. Go, do, and enjoy everything while you can. Let your loved ones know you love them every chance you get.
What is your ultimate goal in life? : To inspire, educate and uplift everyone I come into contact with throughout my life. I also want to educate everyone especially the youth about heart defects and how they can check their hearts for one. My son’s defect went undetected for 17 years until his death. I don’t want that to happen to another child.
How have you been during the pandemic and how has it affected you? : I caught COVID19 in December. Luckily for me it was a light case and I was never hospitalized. I lost a cousin, a sister in law and two of my mom’s good friends to the virus. The pandemic has taken a toll on me but I have a strong faith in God and that has kept me. I pray for anyone who has been affected and trust that God will see us all through.
What is a message you would like to give others? :
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. Proverbs 3:5 This scripture has served me well. We must keep the faith, never give up and totally trust God.
What else would you like to tell others about you or your life?: I’m living each day to the fullest. I’m working to educate the youth about having a healthy heart. I’m praying for us all and wish nothing but the best for my fellow man and woman. Learn about our foundation at www.youth4healthyhearts.com and thank you so much for this opportunity to share my story.
