Introduce Yourself/Tell About Yourself: Soon to be hitting the big age milestone of 55 in April 2021. Born and raised in Calgary Alberta Canada. Have lived here my entire life, and still learning there is so much of my own city to be discovered.
Despite being a Canadian, the one place I would love to move to and live is Las Vegas. My first trip to Vegas was way back in 1988 and I’ve been in love with it every since. I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve traveled down there, but I do know there are many more trips in the future.
Avid sports fan with my main interests being hockey(nhl) and footbal (cfl/nfl).
In the last few years I’ve developed a new found love for cooking. No, I don’t get too crazy and make anything overly fancy, it’s more about the process that goes into whatever dish I’m making at the time. Being a self professed “picky eater” most things tend to be on the conservative side, but with practice have gotten better over time.
What Inspires You Every day? : I’m inspired to try and be a better “me” than the day before. It may sound cliche but knowing where I’ve been, to where I am now in my life, I know I still want to get and be better.
What is some words of wisdom you live by?: You can’t have a career without a job.
What I take from this is no matter what you may be asked to do, it simply adds to your overall experience towards whatever career you end up having. Not many, if anyone ever starts at the “top”, so the jobs you do on your path to the top only enhance the final destination, that being your career. And many people may have multiple careers in their lifetime, so without all those “jobs” you may never have reached your career goal.
What is your ultimate goal in life? : This may sound un-inspiring, but I really just want to go back to, or find a new job where I can put in a good days work and go home feeling good about that.
As mentioned before, I’d still very much love to live down in Vegas, so I hold onto that dream.
How have you been during the pandemic and how has it affected you? : The pandemic has been extremely difficult on me, as it has for so many others throughout the world.
I lost my job because of it and that rippled into other events that have been quite taxing on me. I don’t have a place of my own to live anymore, thankfully I have an absolutely great friend who took me in so me and my dog wouldn’t be forced to honestly live in my car….which was really the only option I had left.
It’s also been hard in the sense that I’d worked hard to re-establish myself after a previous job loss in 2017, only to have the pandemic come along and undo all those past efforts and set me back even further.
What is a message you would like to give others? : Never take what you have for granted. Whether it’s a job, relationship or in fact anything. You never know if or when it could all be stripped away, so cherish it all.
What else would you like to tell others about you or your life?: I really don’t know. I’ve always been the “keep to myself” type, but when people have wanted to discover more about who I am, I don’t mind sharing…so long as those same people don’t judge me based on what they learn.
