Introduce Yourself/Tell About Yourself: I’m 55 yrs young
happily married with a 19 yr old son. I’m a Brooklyn girl living in FL since 1996. From my Twitter name you can see I love music, classic rock, heavy metal to soul and dance music. Anything that make me feel good. I love to dance (not trained.) I’m addicted to doubles tennis and enjoy a glass or two
of a full bodied cab.
What Inspires You Every day? : After waking up 4yrs ago to a trump presidency, I’m inspired by the power of good people working hard for a better America. Being from, NY I knew trump was an empty vessel. I feared, like never before, that our country would be under authoritarian rule. That said, I believe that sometimes you need to burn down the forest to bring renewal. The caveat was that he could only have 4yrs otherwise America as we know it would be gone.
What is some words of wisdom you live by?: I always told my son since he was very young: you come into the world with nothing but the skin on your back and your word. Your word is worth gold. Integrity. When you don’t live up to your word you lose trust. Trust is near impossible to gain back once lost. Live with integrity and people will be there for you along your path.
What is your ultimate goal in life? : My most important goal, which is near success, is nurturing my child to be comfortable in his own skin with the ability to be a positive part of society while reaching for the stars. People would tell me I’m a good mom. My response was that I will only know that when my son was a functional, independent participant in society. I believe that to be true. So proud of him.
How have you been during the pandemic and how has it affected you? : Thankfully it has affected my life minimally. Living in FL we are able to enjoy outdoor life. We no longer go out for a weekly date night so I’m cooking even more. I don’t mind. We do take out occasionally. We wear masks religiously. I have no love for Desantis.
What is a message you would like to give others? : I have said this many times based on my own experience. To young people: please stop thinking success is based on how much money you make. Your life can be miserable with abundance of wealth. Follow your passion or just find what you enjoy. Success is enjoying what you wake up everyday to do which allows you to have a roof over your head, support the family you love, get out with friends, and some travel. Looking for the big payoff may sound nice but it’s often not the answer.
What else would you like to tell others about you or your life?: I have been blessed. I’m not a religious person at all. I believe that people go through difficult challenges at different times in their life. I went through my misery in the early years of my life. My immediate family brought me the most misery. As a mother, my guide was what not to do. I strived to nurture who my son was naturally and not destroy his spirit. The fact that I believe I have succeeded in this gives me strength when my demons take the lead.
