Shannon Smart: My goal is to graduate university and become a dance teacher.

Name: Shannon Smart

Instagram Handle/Username: Shannonxsmart

Introduce Yourself/Tell About Yourself: My names Shannon, I’m 18 years old from Newcastle Upon Tyne. I spend the majority of my time dancing whether it be training or just for fun. If I’m not dancing I’m pretty much always on social media trying to keep myself entertained throughout lockdown. As like most people know it can get extremely boring and days become repetitive.

What Inspires You Every day? : Dancers inspire me every single day. Two people who inspire me the most are charity and Andres. The amount of effort they put into every single performance is insane and although it gets extremely hard they still carry on and they get better and better each time (if possible).

What is some words of wisdom you live by?: “One day you’ll leave this world behind, so live a life you will remember.” – Avicii. I believe in this sentence so much that I’m actually wanting to get it tattooed onto me. You only get one chance in life so you may as well try to achieve your dreams. I’d rather try and fail so at least I can say I tried it and it didn’t work out, I think it’s better than not trying at all because then you’ll never know if your dream could’ve became a reality. The amount of people that have missed out on their dreams because they where too scared to try it is unbelievable. I think anyone that has a dream should just go for it, you only get one chance.

What is your ultimate goal in life? : My goal is to graduate university and become a dance teacher. I have a strong passion for dancing and being able to teach other people everything I’ve learnt, and prepare them for the industry would be a dream. The ultimate goal would be to have my own successful dance school. Doing my passion for a job would be insane and helping other people achieve their goals and ambitions just makes it so much better.

How have you been during the pandemic and how has it affected you? : Although I’m eager to get out of lockdown I’m managing quite well. I’m lucky in the sense that I’m mentally stable and I have my friends to FaceTime, and zoom dance lessons to keep me busy. I know a lot of people will be struggling being kept in the house all the time and my heart goes out to anyone struggling, the whole world is going through a tough time and we all need to be there for eachother!

What is a positive message you would like to give others? : Keep your head up, check on your friends, and ask for help if you need it. So many people are going to struggling during the pandemic and being in lockdown. Keeping yourself busy is the best option. Even if it’s little things like going for a walk, FaceTiming friends, or baking. It can make you feel 10x better because you won’t be lying in bed all day!

What questions would you like to ask others?: How is everyone finding it in lockdown? Are you using the time to better yourself? Are you spending the time relaxing?
