Introduce Yourself/Tell About Yourself: Hi! My name is Emelia, I am 22 years old and living with my boyfriend and his daughter in Sweden.
A little more about me and my goals: About 3 months ago I started getting serious with my Instagram and tiktok and my goal was to start working with my social media.
I have a chronic illness, endometriosis and because of this I also started to develop mental illness. I am always in pain, some days are better than others but I spend most of my days in the couch or in bed and my painkillers doesn’t help so much anymore. I have 3-4 days in a month that is “good days” that means that I can go out and do stuff. At least once a month, I go to the hospital and stays there for 5-7 days. I try to save for an operation that could make me better.
The Swedish Insurance Company think I’m too healthy to be on sick leave, the Swedish Employment Agency think I’m too sick to even sign up with them and all the employers have said no to hiring me when I tell them I have endometriosis.
My goal with my social media is to inform others about endometriosis, tell other womens stories that also have this disease.
I also want to inspire, spread joy and show that you can live even tho your always sick.
What Inspires You Every day? : My family inspire me the most, even tho I am in pain I always try to be there for them and doing daily things togheter. They inspire me to get up from bed every morning even tho it’s hard.
What is some words of wisdom you live by?: It’s just a shitty day, not a shitty life
What is your ultimate goal in life? : My ultimate goal in life is to save enough money to the operation I mentioned before. It’s a LOT of money but I really hope that I’ll have that money someday to go there and get that operation. The operation would totally change my life, for the better. I wouldn’t be in pain and I could start working, be more active and don’t being hospitalized all the time.
I also want to start working full time with my social media, spread awareness about endometriosis and help people in the same situation as mine.
How have you been during the pandemic and how has it affected you? : The pandemic hasn’t affected me so much more than I feel extremely bad for everyone who lost someone due to covid-19. I don’t see family or friends up close anymore but nothing more. Here in Sweden, we don’t have lockdown and the Swedish government hasn’t forced us to wear masks or anything. These are just recommendations. I really think that the Swedish government should take this more serious than they do.
What is a positive message you would like to give others? : You can do anything as long as you fight for it! Ceep distance and stay safe!
What questions would you like to ask others?: If you have endometriosis or know someone who has endo, please refer them to my page. I try to share my and others’ experiences to create more knowledge about endometriosis. You aren’t alone in this, send me a dm if you want someone to talk to or want to get your story heard. Finally, feel free to spread this so that we can draw attention to this horrible disease that affects 1/10 of women.
