Alyssa’s goals are to get through college and find a stable career.

Name
Alyssa
Tell us a little about you(your background and how was it like)?
I grew up in an upper middle class family, in a small farm town. My parents worked a lot so I grew accustomed to doing my own thing. I’ve had a job since I was 14. I would say I had it easy growing up. My parents provided everything I needed and/or wanted in exchange for doing chores around the house. After I started working I’d pay for my own phone, clothes and eventually my car. They wanted to teach us nothing in life is free and you have to work hard for the nice things you have. I’m going to start back at college again in August for business. I don’t really know what I want to do. I really want to travel. Go out and meet new people, experience new cultures, new foods and drinks. Just experience life outside of this small town.
What are the bad things you see on social media?
A lot of shaming. If someone is/ has different ideas than them, people will bash that person until the person stops posting or deletes their account.
What are the hardships you go through?
I had to take a semester off of college due to not being able to afford it. I really struggled with the idea of going back. At some points I had to choose paying rent/for school and buying food. A lot of times I could only put enough gas in my car to get from my apartment to work for a few days. The pressure of trying to keep on top of my bills made me start flunking my classes. I was trying to work over time and go to class. Usually I would get around 2 hours of sleep a day. I eventually got really depressed and anxious. I never left my apartment. I started missing work because I couldn’t drag myself out of bed and never went to class. By the time I felt okay again there was no way I’d be able to catch up in my classes so I flunked my first semester so I decided to not go back next semester.
What are your goals in life?
My goals are to get through college and find a stable career, buy a house, get married and have a family. Before all that I’d love to see the world.
What would you do if you could change the world?
I’d clean our environment first. People cannot be healthy and enjoy life to the fullest on a planet that’s contaminated. Then I’d start/join programs that help aid starving people, or people of low income. I’d also love to support the foreign refugees coming to the US. Everyone needs help from time to time and it’s wrong to send them back to a situation that almost always means certain death.
Are you happy in the position you are now in life?
Not currently. I’m at a dead end job trying to make ends meet. I’m being optimistic with starting college again in August. The company I work for union will pay 100% of my schooling through their college. So it’s already looking up.
