Tell us a little about you(your background and how was it like)?
I was born into a bad family. My parents were teens and my father sold drugs for a living. I grew up bouncing between houses for years on end. However, I grew up with stars in my eyes. I looked up to mostly Disney characters and took inspiration from them. Sayings like “ never give up and never give in“ we’re my motto as a child. I grew up ready to break the chains of addiction and negativity. I grew up wanting to be different To change the family name. And that’s exactly what I’m doing.
What do you value most from your country?
I value my education most from my country. Not a lot of countries and people can afford for children to go through 12 years of school for free. But America can and I’ll always be grateful for it.
Who influences you to go after your goals?
My aunt lala influences me the most to go after my goals in life. She showed me how to stay strong and how to keep up with my sports and grades in the mix of all the family drama. She showed me how to be strong smart and driven, and I strive to make her proud of the person I am.
What advice can you give a teen about going through hardships?
Don’t ever forget that in the end, you are all you got. It hurts being alone or feeling alone through hard times, but you are all you’ve got. Only you can make straight As. Only you can get on that varsity team. Only you can make yourself who you are. It’s all up to you, family problems and social issues don’t make you who you are. It’s. All. You.
If you and only three wish to change your family or the world’s life what would they be?
1) I would erase addiction and street drugs. Addiction really is a disease and it takes so many people away from so many good things.
2) racism and homophobia. I support the idea of everyone deserves happiness. No matter what race, color of skin, or person you decide to love, you deserve to be allowed to be happy and loved. Everyone deserves happiness and love.
3) sex trafficking. It’s a real thing and it’s scary. People may ignore it and chose not to discuss it, but that doesn’t make it disappear. Women’s and men’s bodies should never be abused, only cared and loved on. No matter who you are.
Was there a time u helped others out?
I love to help others. Whether it’s a homeless person asking for food, or a team asking for an extra person.
Are you happy in the position you are now in life?
No I’m not completely happy in my current life position, but I am inspired. My life is decently okay, My home/family life is a mess, but I make myself cheer up by doing multiple varsity sports, participating in an honors program, school activities, spending time with my boyfriend (mason, we’ve been dating for 2 years and are extremely happy), and by maintaining a job. My activities and social life keep me excited for each day to come.
