My Name is Giovanna Sosa! I was born in El Paso, Texas, however I grew up in Africa! I lived in both Zambia and Gabon, I have 7 siblings so a crazy big family! I’m Latina and love my Hispanic heritage! However, I’m also, American, Italian, Polish & Scottish. I live in Edinburgh Scotland and I am studying!
What’s it like have a big family, like describe what is like living with that many siblings what goes on?
Having a big family is so special to me because I have so many people in my life who love me! A lot of my siblings live all over the world so it’s great to go visit! I definitely take the big sister role and love making sure my family are okay and taken care of! I’m super protective and proud of my family too! My family has so many characters in it too!
What is something you’re very passionate about?
I’m passionate about the humane and compassionate treatment of refugees! These people are fleeing war zones and being met with rejection when we should be doing everything we can to help these people, and they shouldn’t be dying crossing channels. I am doing Miles for Refugees this month too for the British Red Cross to raise money and awareness too! Also growing up in Africa I’m very passionate about BLM and eliminating systematic racism in America and the UK as I’m a citizen of both!
What is some words of wisdom you live by that you would like to share with the world?
I live by everyday being kind to yourself firstly and making sure you are kind to others and spreading positivity and light! Happiness shines through yourself onto others!
What is something you’ve struggled with in life, past or present?
I myself have struggled with Mental health issues since I was a young girl due to trauma in my childhood. Which has led to drugs and alcohol abuse and toxic abusive relationships. I’m working hard to change these patterns and have even changed my degree now to study more about mental health.
What is a goal you are working right now?
I’m working towards being more myself and doing what I enjoy and not caring what others think!
Last question, what is a way you want to contribute to the world with what is going on today?
I would contribute compassion and kindness because it seems to many people have forgotten what that means when it’s not people who have the same skin color/religion/sexual orientation/gender
